  • What is a Browser-Safe Color Palette?

The Browser-Safe Palette is the actual palette that Mosaic, Netscape, and Internet Explorer use within their browsers and it was used by these browsers that are slightly different on Macs and PCs. It is based on math, not beauty. And it’s mainly used for Html / CSS script for web.

It only contains 216 colors out of a possible 256. That is because the remaining 40 colors vary on Macs and PCs.

By eliminating the 40 variable colors, this palette is optimized for cross-platform use.

The Browser-Safe Palette is useful for flat-color illustrations, logos with flat-color, and areas in any image that have a lot of a single color.

For example,

#FFFFFF, #CCFF00,#CC99CC…….

  • Is it still relevate to today’s context?

Well, i would say no.

Personally, i felt that most people has already familiar with using colours that is not web-safe, and it turns out well.

i realised many people wasn’t using  web-safe colours in their designs anymore.

I think the percentage of users using monitors that are old are very little and not really worth worrying about it.

Having to use a web safe color palette simply limits our choices to 216 colors.

And for some people who is very concern about having their layout or website to look good wouldn’t have stick to it.

Having the right color or ideal color for our website, a decent font should match too.

  • What are the common fonts face found on PC and MAC?

Arial, Helvetical, Courier New, Verdana, Comic Sans MS, Tahoma, Geneva, Trebuchet MS, Times New Roman ,

Times, Lucida Console, Monaco, Georgia, Impact are the main fonts found in similar.

Mac System Fonts (*= as of System 8.5)
Apple Chancery*, Charcoal, Chicago, Capitals*, Courier, Gadget*, Geneva, Helvetica, Hoefler Text*, Monaco, New York, Palatino, Sand*, Skia*, Symbol, Techno*, Textile*, Times, VT100*

Windows System Fonts (*= as of Microsft Plus! For Windows 95)

  • What is a Page loading time and how it influence my design?

A page loading time refers to the amount of time it takes for a user to view my landing page after clicking my ad or link.

And the loading timing is very important.

Nobody would wait for the page to slowly load.

Time is money.

Especially a webpage for business, requires a clean and fast web so that they would not drive their customers away for waiting too long.

A high-quality landing page should have a fast load time as well as feature unique, relevant content.

To have the web page load faster, it is best recommended not to overload the web with too much files or special effect transition of website.

Therefore, my design would most probably be Plain and clean.

Web Design Workflow and Process Comparison

After reading this article,

i felt that Web Designing is a tough and tedious job and it is not as easy as i thought.

It definitely needs alot planning before setting the page up.

I always thought a Web Designer is basically about doing a good layout for their website to promote or advertise their product.

Little did i know, they are doing re-designed for other web designers too.

It can really be a brain juice sucking work.Especially to me, who always doesn’t like the idea of thinking too hard.

Web designing to me was like drawing.

The workflow of web designing is just as similar as our usual drawing workflow.

Requires concept, creativity, thumbnails, colour scheme, try-out, and improve, and final product.

And, there is no right or wrong in the way a web designer is doing their web,

some may somehow seems to skip or miss one or two steo b4 ther other process but it turns out great too.

It is not the amount of process that we should be doing to have a good design.

Its the understanding and confidence that we should have in our mind and design.

Believing that the client would like it or not, having a plan to do anything is very important.

Understanding of what the client’s need is the other important issue too!
