HOMEWORK-This fashion

Filed under: Uncategorized — lindadada @ 2:54 pm

Came across this website that was from This fashion. The layout of it wasn’t that appealing and attractive. It was kind of plain. And i actually though it don’t really seems to target young adult. It’s more of a Aunty style.Or probably worst?

I find it BORING, UNAPPEALING AND DEAD.
To me, their website are created to advertisement to the user who had no time to shop or customer who happen to be a supporter of This fashion and updating promotions and new items to them.

Though their website wasn’t interesting enough to attract some user, but i would say they are informative enough.

They provide details of membership and the exchange policy that not all website would even bother to state them down or even didn’t mention. They even provide more details on where those gift vouchers can be redeem or use when some of the website didn’t really go into detail and create confusion to the customer or even make them to call them up to check it out.Their detail are just one click away, without having to search for the icon.

On the other hand, i actually thought they are a bit too systematic, in order words boring.

They are not creative enough and the website itself is a disaster to me…BORING!It doesn’t look like a clothing shop to me.

And it don’t look like a good shop to me with that website, layout and color they use is not matching and attractive. They just simply make me feel like click the Red cross at my top right hand corner and end this misery.Everything just look like they hadn’t finished designing the website.

I LOVE HOMEWORK 2!

  • What is a Browser-Safe Color Palette?

The Browser-Safe Palette is the actual palette that Mosaic, Netscape, and Internet Explorer use within their browsers and it was used by these browsers that are slightly different on Macs and PCs. It is based on math, not beauty. And it’s mainly used for Html / CSS script for web.

It only contains 216 colors out of a possible 256. That is because the remaining 40 colors vary on Macs and PCs.

By eliminating the 40 variable colors, this palette is optimized for cross-platform use.

The Browser-Safe Palette is useful for flat-color illustrations, logos with flat-color, and areas in any image that have a lot of a single color.

For example,

#FFFFFF, #CCFF00,#CC99CC…….

  • Is it still relevate to today’s context?

Well, i would say no.

Personally, i felt that most people has already familiar with using colours that is not web-safe, and it turns out well.

i realised many people wasn’t using  web-safe colours in their designs anymore.

I think the percentage of users using monitors that are old are very little and not really worth worrying about it.

Having to use a web safe color palette simply limits our choices to 216 colors.

And for some people who is very concern about having their layout or website to look good wouldn’t have stick to it.

Having the right color or ideal color for our website, a decent font should match too.

  • What are the common fonts face found on PC and MAC?

Arial, Helvetical, Courier New, Verdana, Comic Sans MS, Tahoma, Geneva, Trebuchet MS, Times New Roman ,

Times, Lucida Console, Monaco, Georgia, Impact are the main fonts found in similar.

Mac System Fonts (*= as of System 8.5)
Apple Chancery*, Charcoal, Chicago, Capitals*, Courier, Gadget*, Geneva, Helvetica, Hoefler Text*, Monaco, New York, Palatino, Sand*, Skia*, Symbol, Techno*, Textile*, Times, VT100*

Windows System Fonts (*= as of Microsft Plus! For Windows 95)
Arial, Book Antiqua*, Comic Sans MS*, Courier New, Impact*, News Gothic MT, Symbol, Tahoma*, Times New Roman, Verdana*, Webdings*, Wingdings

  • What is a Page loading time and how it influence my design?

A page loading time refers to the amount of time it takes for a user to view my landing page after clicking my ad or link.

And the loading timing is very important.

Nobody would wait for the page to slowly load.

Time is money.

Especially a webpage for business, requires a clean and fast web so that they would not drive their customers away for waiting too long.

A high-quality landing page should have a fast load time as well as feature unique, relevant content.

To have the web page load faster, it is best recommended not to overload the web with too much files or special effect transition of website.

Therefore, my design would most probably be Plain and clean.

Web Design Workflow and Process Comparison

After reading this article,

i felt that Web Designing is a tough and tedious job and it is not as easy as i thought.

It definitely needs alot planning before setting the page up.

I always thought a Web Designer is basically about doing a good layout for their website to promote or advertise their product.

Little did i know, they are doing re-designed for other web designers too.

It can really be a brain juice sucking work.Especially to me, who always doesn’t like the idea of thinking too hard.

Web designing to me was like drawing.

The workflow of web designing is just as similar as our usual drawing workflow.

Requires concept, creativity, thumbnails, colour scheme, try-out, and improve, and final product.

And, there is no right or wrong in the way a web designer is doing their web,

some may somehow seems to skip or miss one or two steo b4 ther other process but it turns out great too.

It is not the amount of process that we should be doing to have a good design.

Its the understanding and confidence that we should have in our mind and design.

Believing that the client would like it or not, having a plan to do anything is very important.

Understanding of what the client’s need is the other important issue too!

Browsers and other things you should know about other than just surfing for games!

Filed under: Uncategorized — lindadada @ 1:52 pm

BROWSER BROWSER BROWSER

I believe, most people are using Internet explorer or maybe mac os.

But other than just surfing your sites with your current browser,

have you even thought of trying new browser that may be a better and friendlier user?

Well, that is not only 3 or 4 browser that i can name.

For example ( Browser),

AOL , Safari, Historical consus, UDDI, Firefox, Opera, Split, window vista, Quran, maxthon, MeSH, SQ Kite Database, Tiger Map Server, UCSC Genome, ASL, Flock, Avant, Netscape, Outlook, Bitty, and the newest browser-Google Chrome.

That is not all. But you will never get the best out of any, because the wrold is moving so fast that, Browser are even competing with each others.

And thats what you call,

BROWSER WAR.

It is like a wet market that have alot of stalls selling the same item as them and those stall owners eventually had to attract their customer to buy their fish or vegetables. To keep their POPULARITY, they tried alot of way to keep their business on going by lowering the price or offering extra items to them for getting certain amount of things purchased.

And as for browser itself, they do have the Competition among themselves. But, of course they do not just lowering their efficiently or cut price to earn the trust and loyality from the user. In fact, they work even harder to make the browser even better and trying hard to outstand the other browser. The similarity that a browser war and fish market war is….They both offers package and effort to user.

They do not intentionally post their critism on forum to harm the other browser, but they accidentally allow the Supportive user of theirs to comment on their new product and even compared with the other product. In my very own opinion, i actually thought, it was either a smart way of gaining trust from other user or they are just doing the user a favour by improving their products through their feedbacks.

But one thing we know was,

Browser war never ends.

We always know that browser is a worldwide thing and there’s shouldn’t be any problem in that case.

But when we used wireless router, problems seems to appear.

For example, pop ups like,

IP ADDRESS conflict

And you must be thinking, “What is that?”

Now, it is time to knock some knowledge to you brain.

Internet Protocol is known as IP address or IP number is a is a numerical identification (logical address) that is assigned to devices participating in a computer network.

Its helps to locate each other in different distribution area.

A unique number consisting of 4 parts separated by dots, example, 165.113.245.2

Every machine that is on the Internet has a unique IP number – if a machine does not have an IP number, it is not really on the Internet.

The address of a computer attached to a TCP/IP network. Every client and server station must have a unique IP address.

This actually helps the police to detect the location of any suspected criminal who actually violented Laws like Account hacking into banks or other illegal actions with computer.

Now, let’s talk about URL- UNIFORM RESOURCE LOCATER

For example,

  1. www.hellopeople.com/876533
  2. www.wordpress.com/lindalinda

This are the examples of URL.

URL can be customised to your own interest.

The first URL is the Ready set address for you.

And, the second ones, you can changed it after you sign up for you own account.

Uniform Resource Locators.

In simple terms this is your site’s address, the name or numbers that appear in the address window of your browser.

A Uniform Resource Locator is the WWW address of an item on a WWW server.

So now, you can Create a URL for yourself and start blogging and sharing anything on the net with you very own Website now!

But, even you have a good URL name that doesn’t really attracts people to visit your website.

So, what is the tricks of getting a appealing website that would constantly attracts poeple to visit it again and again?

In other words,

WHAT IS A GOOD WEBSITE?

Having a Very good design and layout is a bonus.

A good website should be easy to navigate, create a professional image, and be easy to find.

A good website need not cost a lot of money, but always use the services of a professional website design company.

Lots of factors should be considered including:

  • Browser compatibility ( Should not be too restrictive)
  • Search engine friendliness (Reader shouldn’t be looking for a  manual for your website )
  • Colour schemes ( The age group you are targeting affects the colour layout you are going to use)
  • Ease of updating the site ( Virus-free? Spyware-free?)
  • Text legibility (Not too small, not too big, not too fancy)
  • Download speed ( Reader will not wait for your website to load as it is timing comsuming)

Thanks for reading.

Welcome back again for my new updates.

Have a good day ahead.
